Details
Volleyball is a team sport where two teams of six players compete to ground the ball on the opponent’s side of the court. The game is played on a rectangular court divided by a net, with specific zones such as the attack line, service area, and centerline. Each team is allowed up to three touches to return the ball, and points are scored using a rally scoring system — every rally results in a point. Matches are typically played as best-of-five sets, with the first four sets going to 25 points and a deciding fifth set to 15 points.
Players rotate clockwise after winning a serve, and each position has a specific role. The setter is the playmaker who delivers accurate sets for hitters to attack. The outside hitter is a key attacker who also plays in serve receive. The opposite hitter attacks from the right and often blocks the opposing outside hitter. The middle blocker focuses on quick attacks and front-row defense, while the libero is a back-row defensive specialist who cannot attack or serve. Together, these roles contribute to a fast-paced, strategic game requiring teamwork, communication, and quick decision-making.
